charlieg Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Aaron what lake are you thinking of fishing? Quote
aaron_1 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Report Posted April 26, 2013 I was concidering plantation, but I am open to advise to which one to give ago. Quote
charlieg Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Plantation is a really nice lake. It's quite small but they don't allow overcrowding on it. Small baits tend to work well on their Quote
aaron_1 Posted April 29, 2013 Author Report Posted April 29, 2013 Hi Matt, ive been told its quite silty, do you know if the chod or helicopter only really work on elphicks lakes? Quote
matt859 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 a chod rig will work anywhere, it is designed to, however once you have discovered what the bottom is really like then there are other more suitable rigs out there that will work too. I fish at a venue that is silty and have been using a small bag of boilies attached to the hook so that the bigger surface area stops them being masked by the soft silt. The lead is just heavy enough to get me the distance I need and ive wacked it with a hammer so it is flat and doesnt sink in as far. The hook length is simply 8 inches of supple braid tied in a knotless knot with no tubing, rings or fancy gubbins on it. Quote
charlieg Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 Elphicks is just a clay man made hole in the ground. You don't need no chod rigs, just fish on the deck. They are partial to a zig as well. Quote
aaron_1 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Report Posted May 1, 2013 ok thanks for info charlieg, doing a 48hr next weekend . Does anyone know of a nice carp lake in kent? Reasonably new to carp fishing only about 9 months, but am ready for something more challenging than the likes of monk lakes. Quote
