severnslayer
Eastnor Castle near Ledbury, £350 per season, about 60 members, contact Ian/Sonia Allcock 01531 634280, 4 Wayend Street, Eastnor, Ledbury, - check out the Eastnor castle web site. 300 odd fish now in the lake (many old/damaged fish removed over last 4/5 years) Specimen roach, eels and perch that are hardly fished for. Season runs from March 1st until end of December. Good head of twenties and doubles and a few 30 plus fish just beginning to appear! Beautiful lake set in woody location depths from 2 to 15 feet, silty estate lake about 7 - 8 acres, rushes, overhanging trees, lilly pads have now been removed,. 1 island to fish to, 1 silted up island in shallow area of lake. Dam wall at deeper end. About 20 swims, some double swims. Fish taken at all ranges from margins to 100yds plus. Fishmeals work very well, just simple rigs needed, Fish have fairly soft mouths so inturned point patterns of hooks advised, good swims gravelled and boarded and proper track around lake and secure car park. Only downside is visitors to castle especially at weekends and during events like weddings and shooting parties, otherwise one of the nicest lakes you could fish. Good value for money. Difficulty rating - moderate, used to be easy but not so now fish stocks are lower and bigger!
