  3. Well I managed to to get over to this lake and have a proper look around yesterday and also have a chat with someone who was doing a 48hr session and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw,the lake is around 6 acres with numerous islands and from what I saw a tidy lake not full of rubbish as I had read on some older posts which I was pleased about. The guy I spoke to was very forthcoming about the lake explaining that it is not an easy water and by no means a runs water but the lake does contain some very nice carp that he has personally caught too 35lb and has a friend who has caught carp to 37lb,he also said there are quite a few catfish in the lake upto 40lb. Apparently the lake originally comprised of 2 lakes but around 4years ago it was combined into one lake and from what I could see it looked great,I saw a few large fish crash so that has wetted my appetite to get over and fish the lake,so just have to wait now for a couple of weeks now and then I will be over there for a 60hr session and hopefully a few large carp pleaseeeee. Will post how it goes when I've been.
  4. Strange that, the last couple of times I have been on there on 3 occasions people asked about booking for night fishing while Karen his wife was there and was told that you have to become a regular to night fish and while I agree Jason can be a bit of a soft touch his missus certainly won't let people on she don't know from my experience, and by the sounds of it JImmys percistance paid off 10 emails lol,I hope you hit it well mate and that you get one of them big cats Meooooooow! Lol
  5. Your right about getting idiots there but now They won't just let anyone night fish the lake you must be a regular now, however it does not stop them during the day granted! But let's be honest you get them wherever you go its just life on day ticket waters unfortunately. Weekend fishing! To be honest I never do any weekend fishing as most places get rammed especially in the summer,I do all my fishing midweek as I work shifts I get quite a lot of my days off during the week so works well for me
  6. This lake is only 15mins from me and I used to fish the lake all the time some years ago and have just started fishing it again after learning that the owner Jason had widened the lake and done a lot of work on it,I have done 3 48hr sessions on the lake in the past 8weeks,on my 1st session I had 3carp all over 20lb the biggest being a common of 25lb and what I regard as a small catfish of 17.5lb but in the same session my brother had a catfish at 61lb and also lost another sizeable one,in the other 2 sessions no carp but a few catfish but nothing of any size just mid teens, but if you want to to catch a monster catfish this is the lake to fish as on one of the sessions I fished a cat of 102lb was reportedly caught although I personally did not witness it,however I did see one at 88.5lb caught when I took a wander round one day, there are truly some monster cats in this lake so well worth a go. Just a note in order to night fish the lake you need to do a few day sessions on the lake so that the owners Jason & Karen get to know you that is one of there rules, also has an electric gate that closes at 7pm and don't re-open until 7am so the car park and lake is very secure, well maintained lake and very friendly and helpful owners, highly recommend
  7. Such a shame as when the place only had the bottom lake which I did fish and it was a nice looking lake and I saw some very nice fish come out of it,but then he built the lakes at the top and from what I've read he took all the fish out of the bottom lake and now it sounds like it's gone right down hill,I remember speaking to the farmer when he only had the bottom lake and he told me the lake was created when they built the bypass and it was stocked for him and that he was making more money in day tickets than he was in farming so was thinking about building new lakes so it sounds to me like all he is worried about is making money rather than running a well looked after fishery very sad really
  8. It did used to be one lake a very long time ago, over 10 years ago if memory serves me right, but as stated in my earlier post there are 3 lakes,specimen1 at the far end,specimen2 which is the middle lake and the match lake which is the 1st lake you see as you drive in which is on your right a very well looked after fishery by the owner Neal.
  9. Hi mate, yea I found something through google that was posted on this forum that's how I found the forum, but the posts were very old,2009 if I remember correctly,I was just hoping that someone had fished there in recent months as what I read was quite off putting to be honest and if things have not changed I don't really want to bother, can't be doing with diving ducks and rats as well as loads of rubbish amongst other stuff that I read about at the venue
  10. I used to fish Cuttens a lot years ago on the specimen 1 lake and trust me it was not an easy lake but from people I spoke to I know that are some very good fish in the lake with fish of 30lb+ And a possible 40lb fish in the lake but the biggest carp I caught was 18.5lb however someone I used to fish with had carp too 28lb but as I said the lake was never an easy one to catch from, the complex also has two other lakes one is the match lake and the other is specimen 2 which by all accounts is a runs water!!! However I done a day on specimen 2 a couple of months ago and blanked but I did forget my Cell freezer bait and was forced to buy some shelf life boilies which I'm never very confident with myself so for me that was the reason i struggled and also it was the first time I had fished the specimen 2 lake. While I was there I spoke to the owner Neal who is always forthcoming with tactics, bait and any other info you may require and he told me that he had put another 100 carp into specimen1 since I'd last fished there and so it's not as hard as it used to be but then again he would probably say that but I will definitely be giving it another crack very soon as its a great looking lake, some people say the A12 is very noisy but to be honest after about an hour or so you don't even notice it,also there is a tackle shop on site which can be very handy when you forget your freezer bait like I did
  11. Hi everyone,I'm looking to do a couple of nights on the predator lake in early July and I've never fished the lake before,I did fish the lake down the bottom close to the railway line some years ago but have heard that the fish have been moved to the predator at the top so just after some useful info in regards to what it is like and the best baits to use, also I have read some disturbing stuff about the place like problems with ducks and rats and also about the way the place is looked after so any information would be very helpful. Many thanks
