do you think it is better to use around 6-8inchs?? for clay bottoms?

Hi there again i hav been watching videos on youtube and si have seen peaple use over 1 foot hooklength when carp fishing(bolt rig) What ae the advantages of this ?

Hi there I use mainline 12lb onto a safety clip with a 2oz lead,then joined onto a braided hooklink (around about 6inch)onto a size 12 hook, and to finish it off with monster crab boiles anywhere from 12mm to 20mm to keep the bream away ! hope this helps
