Sorry missed that yes you will be locked in at nights it certainly makes for a more secure venue which is more than i have experienced elsewhere!. I fish when i can but have not always been able to get to the swims so i go elsewhere. As for weekdays and weekends always check with the bailiff as you will have to book ,as you will have seen it's swims areas are very tight, make sure you have the right info on your swims limits.

Hi it's a tidy venue (strictly controlled) if on the small side approx, 1.75 acres with limited swims eight overnighters with one extra day swim (the bay swim),as you say mostly doubles in their teens are the order of the day since it's been fenced predation issues have thankfully been stopped and that goes for the predation on the wildlife/birdlife too!!. Winter will always present a set of different challenges mostly the fish will be huddled up lethargic and can present a problem as to finding where they are!. Certainly mild days will help with movement but i would advise having a word with the bailiff for latest info, and it is not a deep water. Fishing for the pike is an alternative that some of the syndicate ticket members carry out in the winter months. Summer is a popular time for the lake always phone to see what the situation is as there is a weekday and separate weekend ticket holders syndicate on it...hope that helps.

Hi, Sorry this is late! but the carp lake has a Weekday and a separate Weekend Syndicate membership.... so you Will need to phone to make sure there are swims available for day ticket fishing.Take some smelly boilies such as crab and squid etc see how that goes.

Hi yes fished it a few times you have a tidy match lake ideal for float rod, ledger or pole fishing good for all ages and children accompanied! roach, rudd, tench, perch etc.toilets nearby shared with carp lake. The carp lake although small is a pleasant little lake with approx eight swims available fish can go up to mid twenties it can get busy!.Both lakes are fully gated and fenced to prevent otter predation on the wildlife and fish. Swims are tidy, the fishery rules/requirements are posted on the bailiffs cabin along with ticket prices etc, micro barbed hooks only on the carp lake.bailiff is patrolling regularly, car park available. It has been known for the EA to visit it.

Helicopter rigs are awesome in my opinion! Very safe when set up correctly, and can be set up to hook the fish with the weight of the lead then allow the fish to run with less resistance. I use helis loads! For pop ups use chod rigs, which is really a helicopter rig altered and renamed! For bottom baits, choice is yours! I like combi rigs, and the helicopter set up allows you to use a stiffer boom section and not be so worried about chod and silt, so the bait kicks away from the rig well. Make sure you have enough knowledge to set up a helicopter rig safely though! Can be the safest rig in the lake, but can also be the most dangerous! If a break off happens and the mainline / leader can't pass through the ring swivel so the rig is the only thing left then you end up with a hooked fish that can't get rid of the leader but the weight is a meter or so away, making it more difficult to get rid of than if it were close to the mouth, and meaning the lead drags behind the fish or down through the water making a snag up more likely! A trailing leader may pass through a snag (not that I'd condone allowing that to occur either) but a training leader with a lead on the END of it may not! Thanks for the response exactly the kind of information i was looking for

Hinchingbrooke park huntingdon

Try contacting the local council offices in town, i seem to recall that they may have information that would help or the tackle shop? in huntingdon or stanjay in godmanchester. I fished that area many years ago before the otter/cormorant predation problems arose. -
Certainly very pleased to see that at last fencing is going up as the otter predation problem on the fish and wildlife that inhabit the area have suffered badly.
-
The helicopter is new to me and i would like to know when used with a pop up or bottom bait what hook rig or rigs would be suitable, and please bear with me on this one lads as i am fairly new....

Costessey Number 3 was always a low stock difficult fishery with old fish. I think that when I lived in Norfolk it only contained 10 fish, and that now is a lot less. Probably the only water on the complex that could be fenced The Ski Pit (No.2) was another water that took a lot of effort to get onto the fish with such difficult bankside access. Fencing No.2 is almost impossible, different landowners or controlling clubs on the various sides. Just had a thought, it is not syndicate, and I don't know how badly affected but is Booton suitable? There are or were some decent fish in there, but it is not an easy easy water. I ask as I don't know your disability, so am presuming you are able to walk but not long distances. My disability enables me to walk a reasonable distance with a rest,i am interested in taverham as i understand it has facilities for disabled fishing. My concern is how busy does it get? but would try to go on quite times as i am no longer working.

Yes i have heard that the owner cannot be contacted for 2013 membership .I am also trying to find out about Kingfisher
-
Thank you for your help, i have made inquiries regarding Costessey and the news is very bleak,... Otter predation has caused such serious carp/fish depletion to such an extent its not worth fishing. And the cost of fencing protection apparently is way beyond affordable means
-
Also check if there are comments on other forums, one thing i forgot to mention is we did have a problem occasionally regarding car parking/security.It was with a certain community living around the area!....Tight lines.

Pastie water isn't it?.

I lived in the St Ives area for over 18 years and along with mates we used to fish the pit complex regularly my advice would be to walk the Lakes (pits) and talk to any anglers you might find. As you may know its a large complex of mainly shallow pits, it was suffering increased cormorant predation, plus otters in the area....Two of the larger waters had very heavy weed problems as the warmer weather approached. All pits contained a mixture of tench, roach, bream, perch etc in them, we generally fished in the spring/early summer and late summer on the larger pits due to the weed infestations. I Strongly recommend you investigate before making a decision try other sites for any info or Google St Ives lake complex.

I was looking around for a new syndicate water this year in north Norfolk area? layfields lakes were mentioned but rumour has it that they are shut? (gone bust?).. ..if true could someone recommend a good venue ...I have now retired and am partially disabled.

Blickling has not as far as i am aware produced many carp in the last two seasons very few have come out, the same can be said of the tench. Bream still seem to be plentiful at the moment, BUT the Otter predation problem has now reared its ugly head at this lake. I am personally aware of serious damage to a number of large adult bream having seen it at first hand not a pretty sight!. Large fish killed with just a bite or two out of them laying on the pathway, and fish with hardly any tails left struggling dying in the margins. Most certainly to my mind the fish/wildlife population is now in danger at blickling from this apex killer (the fox) of the river/lake!!. Until the propaganda put about by do gooders and certain naturalists that the Otter is a cute, cuddly, furry, innocent victim is dealt with, and the actual truth of what it really is like is revealed Jo public will continue to be misinformed.
