  1. K matey not really looking for a runs water anyway somewhere in the middle is exactly what were looking for The fishery is lac de passion, heres a link to their website which is suprisingly easy to use compared to alot of other french fishery websites I've had a look at. I've logged on to some n thought right Im not going here simply becos the web page is set out in a mess and a cant be bothered to look for the information I need as it could be anywhere! lol
  2. You make a good point. The lake we are thinkin of fishing has 250 fish in 5 acres or 7 acres (says 5 and 7 on two different pages on the site so not sure which it is). Would you say this was more of a runs water?
  3. Me and a friend fished a lake that was something like 12ft on average last year and it proved difficult to fish. The scorching july temperatures had a part to play but did the depth as well? we are only used to fishing places with a max depth of around 10-12 feet in places averaging 8 feet The lake we want to fish is lac de passion and averages 12feet. Will this make the fishing harder or is this just a common occurance in French lakes? Cheers
  4. Any advice and knowledge of this lake and wether its worth booking a weeks hol there wud be great thanks
  5. Any info on this lake would be great thanks I hear its £35 for the year n there are 3 fish over 35lb and loads of 20's which is good for a northern water Only thing that bothers me is the security of the lake as i know its not fenced off or anything like that Anyway all comments welcome cheers
  6. Any information on these as to how good or bad they fish would be great cheers. Of-course I have looked at their websites which are very helpful and factual but nevertheless they're always going to be biest towards there own fisheries. Therefore a good review from someone whose been there and got the t-shirt would be more helpful Looking to book for sept next year. Looking for not too much of a challenge but not a runs water either. Just a steady week id say id be happy with 8-12 quality fish. Any other lake suggestions please feel free to advise (including belgium) Cheers lads
  7. I'm looking for a good lake that gives a good chance of a 30 and plenty of 20lb fish in/near yorkshire. Will go as far as notts, lincs, lancs, leicster. We've been fishing the lakeside complex at Ranskill but are gettin bored and in need of a new challenge. I've looked into a few but I'm not gonna go with Tyrum Hall as we wont get on it till god knows when, the A1 pits seems to dangerous to night fish from what I've heard and Cromwell looks good but £25 per night??? no thank you!!! Anyway any ideas of where to fish are welcome thanks
  8. I know the questions mis leading but when i mentioned the question which included ESP i got no replies so thought Id change it. Plus i thought id be better off asking here then going all the way to the tackle shop to "read the Packet" only to find out that they might not of had the right size in stock
  9. What size ESP shrink tube should i use for kamasan B175's - sizes 4 - 6??
  10. Thanks lads, theres just one other thing: I'm used to playing doubles and the odd twenty.... How would i do things differenty when playing a 30 or 40! I will be pretty nervous as my first capture will probably smash my PB to pieces! still cant wait though
  11. thanks mate but im not sure i want a 50.... i wanna be the first to catch a 60 on charlou!!! haha Thanks for the tips pal i really cant wait for a full weeks carp fishing in paradise!!!
  12. Hi my names Chris and me and a friend are off to France on the 17th July. This will be our first trip so not sure what to expect. Any advice such as food to take/what u can buy over there, fishing licences needed, special tackle requirements, fish behaviour compared to that of UK Carp... anything at all that would aid my first trip abroad and make it a memorable one would be very much appreciated We are fishing Lac du Charlou by the way Thanks again
  13. I'm visiting Lac de Charlou next month and as this is my first trip abroad, was wondering how stronger line should I get; 15lb or 18lb?? I've decided to go with GR60 line as I've used it before and I'm confident with it. I asked the bailiff there and he said 15lb if the diameter on it is average but if its thin diameter then go with the 18lb... trouble is I'm not sure what a thin or average diameter is as I've never really taken much notice before. However I thought I'd best get this right if I want my first trip to France to be a memorable one.... Any thoughts would be great thanks
  14. ye it is a bit pricey like but never had a good chance of a real 30, if i dont catch then i guess its back to the old lakeside fishery
  15. Any tips on this lake would be great. Bait, tactics, depths, swims etc anything... I've never visited this lake and it will be my first time on a lake of this size so I'm not too sure (or confident!) on how to approach it. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks lads
  16. Most people fish semi-fixed leads, so I want to be different, and I think that running leads give increased indication and proper screamers. Ye iv been put off my lead clip set up ever since my mate started catchin more than me wen he started using leadcore on a helicopter rig, our baits were the same but he seemed to always catch a few more than me, i think im gonna have a re think and expiriment with different rig styles.... plus rig tubings really starting to pee me off not being able to slide the line thru it Rig tubing is easy to thread! Use a Gardner Tube threader, or a diamond eye pole elastic threader and it will go through almost any tubing. I can thread Solar tubing with standard mainline though with no problems. I gave up using Korda as no matter what I couldn't thread it. I do NOT think that Leadcore is a safe fishing option, in any way shape or form: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=39794 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=32598 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=38886&highlight=advanced+carp+fishing http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40711&highlight=advanced+carp+fishing Thats just a few for you Cheers mate this is probably where im going wrong then as all previous tubing i have bought has been korda!! whats the best silicone tubing out there? i dont like it to tight on the hook - i like to know its got a little give so that the bait can move free from the hook as the fish blows it out leaving the hook bare and able to catch a hold in the mouth

  18. i like the simplicity of ur rig, i might give it ago n ditch the old leadclip system iv been using the past few years. Is there any reason for ur running lead preferace of set up?
  19. Tel, Thank you for the consideration of the thoughts posted. Unfortunately I believe that manufacturers are sometimes pushed into releasing products without due consideration, fashion or maybe because of "fish at all costs". I'll post this pic again as it shows my standard lead set-up, a running lead going up and down tubing, although the rig is "top secret" As you can see on this occasion I hadn't pinned the tubing down with putty, although sometimes I do, it depends on whether I feel that the fish are spooking off the tubing if it has raised off the lakebed. Looks good i personally wudnt be confident with such a long hair but im sure u have reasons for this, would u use this set up with slack lines? as its a running rig
  20. Tel Not just that, any leadcore leader where the lead is fished Pendant style or inline is a complete danger to the fish and is an accident waiting to happen I.e a tethered fish. The leadcore will always be trailing in the event of a snap-off, leading to the potential for the fish to get tethered. For ESP or any manufacturer to release such a product is beyond belief, shows how little that fish care is thought about, and is completely irresponsible Jez, I believe it was a Pendant leadcore set-up that you or Mach3 pulled in at Merrington, complete with fish attached and trailing a rig? Leaders or not: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=32598 So do u think leadcore should be out of the question completely? if not do you have a prefered set up. The putty at the top of the tubing sounds like a good idea think ill give that a go
