hi could anyone tell me how far from the lead the flying back lead should be, as I noticed on my rig that the back lead doesn't move back that far I am guessing it is something to do with the distance between the lead and backlead

Whats Weston Lawns fishing like.??

yeah the bream can be a nightmare to get through, but certainly keeps you busy which isn't a bad thing if the carp on the feed, good to hear you had a decent day of it though -
this has probably been mentioned before but was wondering what everyones ideal hook length is and why? I use mainly 12 to 14 inch hook lengths as I think that if the carp are testing the bait they will feel the resistance of the lead much quicker on a shorter length than a longer one, how ever I use smaller if I am using a method feeder. Where as my mate uses shorter rigs 3 - 5 inches and if going off fish on the bank I am way ahead!
-
yes that is one flaw in the way I fish
-
I just use a pair of scissors and tie a new rig on

yeah I made that mistake with bramcote, got to hopsford hall a bit late and couldn't get a swim so had the bright idea that we would go to Bramcote Mains BIG mistake!! got there completely missed the sign saying no fishing although in my defence putting it on the post by the road as you turn in to the farm isn't the best place to put it! been in the water about half an hour thinking its a bit quiet today lol! the woman came running down shouting and screaming at me and my mate when we could finally understand what she was saying we were told to leave guess it was just one of them days hey! you blanked on the middle pool? thats got to be a first as thats the runs water! the top pool has been really cruel over the winter! probably 2 - 3 fish all winter, gonna give the place a break till it warms up a bit more before I go back again. let us know how you get on with the today -
thanks for the info will try a bit of putty, I used the leadcore cause I had clips which would release the lead if it got stuck, also the beads which I used for the chod on leadcore gave a bit more friction than what they did on mono, and as for fashion no I don't use it because of 'fashion' I use it because it has gave me the best results with popups if it didn't I wouldn't be using it!
-
I only use leadcore if I am fishing the chod, if anyone could tell me how to make the Chod with out leadcore I would happily get rid of it

Hi mate, the top lake hasn't been fishing well but then again I don't think anywhere is! I certainly wouldn't even think about getting the rods out for a couple of weeks with the amount of snow we just had in my opinion the water temp will be way down -

I think they are just a bit more wiser mate, I have seen them crashing about so I know theres a couple over 20 in there, from what I can gather he hasn't netted which is a bit of a shame, to be honest I get the feeling he's a bit skint at the minute as I think he has a place in London somewhere and that caught fire not long ago so guess his money has had to go elsewhere, understandable really -

don't get me wrong mate can be good up there just obviously the tackle thieves put me off from fishing it at night, otherwise me and my mate are there pretty much every weekend! Think I have only fished the middle pool once and like you say was great sport! biggest was 14 definetly easier than the top pool! me and my mate have been blanking alot over the winter think my best day was 4 bream lol! -
use google maps aswel theres quite a few round by ryton and north coventry which aren't on that website. Also have a look at the leamington book that has Jubilee Pools and Ryton Pools think thats what it is called

yeah its a shame that it doesn't say that it is closed on fisheries.co.uk although maybe that is out of date, looks like I won't be able to get on there till the 21st then, you fairly local to hopsford then?
-
cheers mate gutted was looking forward to tomorrow, you know of any other good places around that area? getting a bit tired of weston lawns lol
-
Does anyone know if Hopsford is closed at the minute? I know they close in December, remember talking to a lad there who told me that but forget when it re-opens was hoping to get on there tomorrow

Sorry for the late reply, that is looked after by the leaminton AA can get a book from Lane's for 25 pound I think on that book you also have jubilee pools which isn't far from there.

i been fishing the place pretty regularly and I heard the baliff tell 2 people that every other fish is over 20 pounds what a load of balls! every other fish is below 10 i don't think I have ever seen a fish over 20 come out of there!! as for tackle being stolen that is true have spoke to a few people who have have woken up and everything outside of the bivvy has gone! I am gonna take a guess and say it is the gypo's which are on a site 5 miles up the road! ( they also stole the drain covers out the side of the road all round the area!!) in my opinion is ok for a day fish but wouldn't risk it over night. -
Kingston Pools Warwick (Carp Pool)
speersy26 replied to speersy26's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
ok just been for a walk around kingston and the place looks like a good place to fish, the first lake is on average 5 ft deep with a gulley going right through the middle of it which goes to 8 ft deep. the other lake I like the look of is on average 3 ft deep has lots of reeds snags and lilly pads so my question is do I fish the 1st one and find the gully or do I fish the 2nd one? opinions please -
