  1. I'm going to give it a go with my little bro this weekend. Anyone had a dabble there recently? Ryan.
  2. When I buzzed in at the gate I explained I was here to look with my brother and that I was coming up at the weekend, he asked if my name was Ryan in which I replied 'yes, how did you know that!?' It confused the hell out of me! I won't write down the rest.. I guess it just wasn't meant to be!
  3. Update- Well.. I went down to have a little look last night, my brother was so excited to see the lake and we got turned away at the gate! Apparently what I wrote on here wasn't acceptable!? I've got to say everything I've heard has been awful (damaged mouths, disease, overfished and swims reserved for 'pals' only) but I thought I'd give the place a chance as rumours can sometimes just be rumours... But they obviously aren't if the guy gets that defensive! The owner was very rude to me through the speaker and when I asked him what was it that I wrote that was that bad he hung up and wouldn't pick up again. At no point did I lose my temper (and believe me I seriously wanted to) or stoop down to his level and be rude and he really spoke to me like I was a piece of **** on his shoe. My brothers quite upset about the whole thing because he really had his heart set on the place but we soldiered on and looked at a few other places anyway. Any other ideas? I was thinking farlows perhaps? Cheers, Ryan.
  4. Hi Newmarket, Don't be sorry, I totally agree! However I want him to bag a few fish. The lakes I regularly fish are hard going at the best of times and I don't think camping will give him the bug for it! Ryan.
  5. Hi Lads, I'm taking my 13 year old brother for his first night fishing experience this weekend. It's definitely a one off as I've heard a lot of bad things about this place although the lake itself and the owner seem decent enough. Has anyone else fished it and can recommend a general area on the lake that will produce some fish without being cut off by all the other lot that'll be on there? (I've heard its a real 'bivvy city' sort of place!) I'm not looking to be spoon fed but I want my little bro's first taste of it to be a good'un! I'm taking him up there tonight to have a look about the place and get him excited for the weekend but any info at all would be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks and Kind Regards, Ryan.
  6. I have decided to join haywards heath angling as they have a few nice lakes. Im especially interested in balcombe because of the low carp stock and the hope that a few unknown lumps might be in there! I fished a 48 hour session at the weekend and blanked with no more than a few knocks! I should of moved on the saturday but decided against it as i had put alot of bait out and having never fished it i thought they may move onto it. I was infact very wrong indeed! Speaking to a couple of the members that fished it the same weekend i found out it was a very hit and miss sort of water and quite tricky. they seemed very secretive about the tactics they were using and location of their chosen spots. If anyone has any information on the lake or any of the haywards heath club lakes please respond or pm me Just so you know i'm not someone wanting to have all the work done for me, i will be spending atleast three evenings a week observing the lake, looking for potential feeding areas, pre baiting, etc. I would just appreciate a little push in the right direction or more Many thanks, Ryan
  7. Does anyone have any information regarding tactics and location? Also depth, make up of the bottom, weed, etc. I'm planning a day session there before Christmas. Never even seen the lake but quite fancy the challenge. Anything at all would be much appreciated Thanks, Ryan
  8. Ok well I'll be changing to a fluorocarbon leader when I fish the two other lakes as it's clear water if anyone's keeping quiet because of the leadcore. Any tips or advice on the chod rig subject?
  9. Is anyone on here a member? If so what lake do you fish?
  10. Im about to start fishing a couple of lakes. One being incredibly silty and the other being a mixture of silty and layers of weed. I thought the best way to tackle these problems would be to start using chod rigs. I went down to my local runs water this weekend to have a little play around with this method as I have not used it before. I've started off with using a metre long ready made lead core chod rig with the hooklink being about 2 inches long with a rubber band as the hair. The hook link is Korda IQ2 which is very stiff which I have curled using a solar rig curler put over the kettle to set it. For bait I have played around with either a pop up or a very slow sinking boilie from which I've had similar success on both. When casting I've been attaching a pva nugget to the hook just to guarantee my rig will end up sitting perfectly and also been carefully pulling the lead out of the silt after casting which I'm unsure if it's acceptable to do so. Any sort of feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  11. Is there anyone that has fished their that can give me some much needed information? e.g. fish stock, depth, rules, etc. Anything would be much appreciated, thanks.
  12. Have you ever fished the lake in newdigate? How have you got on?
  13. Me and 'scottsharkey' are thinking of joining it. I have already spoke to the bloke and we're going to meet him soon. Before you say anything we know its going to be a challenge and we won't catch much, if anything but we really want to put some time in down there and give it our best. But anyway I would like to know if anybody has fished it and what sort of results they have had. Any information at all on the place would be great.
