  1. Stone Private used to have quite a few waters with carp in. I have fished two 'ponds' as a guest.I think they lost the one called Fieldhouse shame as it was a nice water.I had an 11lb common in an afternoon trip and saw loads would be ideal stalking water. The other one I fished was called Hunters.I know theres a 20 in there which is good for an 0.5 acre pond.I lost one in the weed(very weedy). Not sure about 30+ carp but not sure about the waters they have these days but am sure my old mucker Matt would still be in the club if there was a 30 knocking about.

You have to take a lot of the old timers stories in these little clubs with a pinch of salt.I remember one tool at a Fenton work party telling me he had seen loads of carp on one water I have fished (and caught most if not all of the bigguns from) taking tennis balls off the surface! I told him he was talking out of harris as theres only mid 20's in there. He told me I dont know what I am on about and I have never seen fish as big as there is in there, so I politely told him my PB is 41lb 8oz :lol::lol:

  2. I fished it about 20 years ago! What a beautiful river.I only ever fished the river at Broadwas and caught a few Barbel upto about 5lb but lost a much bigger fish.Same as any river mate outside of bends, gravel runs interspersed with streamer weed.I scored on hemp/caster/sweetcorn.Possibly worth giving boilies and pellets a crack.Dont forget the polaroids as well in summer.

A lovely river and good luck I bet the Barbel in there are much bigger now.Tight lines :D

  3. Acton is not that hard on the top lake, its not easy but its not mega hard. Now the other lake is a different kettle of fish entirely and thats where the 50's are. You could get your name down for Acton but its £1000 a year! Also Rob Hales has Weston Park.Plenty of fish in Weston not too hard either.Weston is cheaper than acton as well cant remember the exact cost but it will be on RH fisheries website.

You also have PM about another possibility

  4. hi has marcharmley got a web site ive tryed but all to no avail thanks for your help i will phone my uncle tomorrow see if he knows anything about the place :)

no websiet bud and tbh i cant even find a postcode ive seen many nice fish come out of there in tip top condition its a nice water id recomend it as a day ticket water

I must have been unlucky with the pics I've seen as everyone has had the same fin rot like the one on this thread.Mind you I've only seen about 5 fish from there, apart from this they look healthy enough.

As for water wotto, you could do worse than try Moreton fisheries specimen lake. Its closer and is full of fish.

  5. Eh up ball bag

theres quite a few waters around our way mate that will be a good bet for winter kippers. It depends if you want to do the night and if you have got some wheels sorted wotto.

    Winterley Pool

    Lido

Bridgetts just for a bend for some fun

Basford Pools- days only but good for a run quite a few doubles and a few 20's

Swamp- best ticket in stoke for the money IMO, defo good chance of 20's.This would probably be my no1 choice if I could get there

    HomeFarm

Baden Hall- got to be a chance on there even in winter with the amount of fish there is.

Cuttle Mill-days only and a bit further but good in winter.

Biddulph Grange- days only but good chance of a kipper with one going over 30!

    Mill Cottage

The canal- if you can find the fish some good uns in the cut

    The nature reserve :wink:8)

Just a few for you to investigate mate :D

  6. The first time I fished Willesley I did about 20hrs in a bitterly cold NE wind in early March.I had 2 fish.We then fished it about another 10 times during spring, summer, autumn and winter but couldnt get on the lions share of the fish during the spring and summer which were in the shallows(field and woods pegs).I wouldnt class it as a hard water at all but in winter I would expect you'd blank more than you'd catch. It seems this is the case as well from talking to lads who have fished it hard in winter.

Incidentally I wouldnt class it as a shallow water the upper part of the lake must account for 50% of the surface area and its over 8ft deep from memory in most places up there apart from the margins and the top bay.If I was looking for a shallow water for the winter I would be looking at somewhere with no more depth than 6ft, above this from my experience the fish take much longer to respond to any good sunshine.

Try Willesley for the winter but I know not many fish come off :)

  7. Willesley would have to be one of the best winter waters in Leics purely due to its large stock and shallow depth, plus the bait will be going in right through the year.

Willesley is not really that shallow mate on average. The upper part of the lake is quite deep.I wouldnt go on there in winter expecting to slay em as it really can be quite tough

  8. Note - A rig with just shrink tubing on it is not a proper line aligner, the hooklink has to be passing through the shrink tubing, through a hole in it created by the baiting needle. It's easier to do than explain..

The one and only 'Proper' Jim Gibbinson line aligner :wink:8)

  9. Trentham should be just up your street wattowarwick :D Its full of pasties like these..lol...

I know lads have been on there this year that have yet to catch one 20+ fish and they have caught plenty.

Theres no shortage of fish in there thats for sure but you have to wade through dozens and dozens to get the bigger fish that are undoubtedly in there.Stick to that duck pond in the woods

A mate of mine has fished trentham this year hes probably 'top rod' as hes had 4 or 5 20's upto 23.It is a nice lake and plenty of fish to be caught but theres a better option even closer to you but it will be much much harder than trentham.

If you do fish trentham drop me a PM as I can supply you with as much bait as you will need at a good price that has been catching well on there 8)

These are what you want :wink:8)
