    Braids

I use the esp striptease coated braid. and when the coating is removed it is nice and supple like braid should be. so for your purposes i would stay away from that one.
  2. could be something in this cos a mate of mine fished drayton ressy last week for a mate of his to get some runs on his new gear. they were loosing fish due to hook pulls which has never happened in the many many many fish caught from there before.
  3. will let you know what the successful combination is. think i may be dipping into my mates tackle box as he has various BS and makes of hooklink.
  4. think it was 18lb ghost i was using before and it wouldnt go through any. they do seem to have slightly larger eyes on the stiff riggers. i am not up on my whipping knots but that would be a good solution, any knots are a right nightmare to tie with this stiff hooklinks?
  5. yeah mate but for a d-rig the hooklink needs to go through three times. picked up some size 6 esp stiff riggers at lunch time, so hopefully get a couple tied up tonight ready for the weekend.
  6. cheers guys, will look at the bristle filament stuff. and will have to get some stiff rigger hooks. trip to tackle shop at lunch i think. in that pic you have attached you have a D-ring and a hair, I either use one or the other, are you using both? or have you attached a hair to the ring?
  7. isnt that i braid? i use them for pop ups so would rather use something thats harder to see in water. cheers.

    D rigs

What hook and hooklenght combination do you find work well for D-rigs? I have tried tying them with esp ghost, but its too thick to go back through the eye of the hook and its really fiddly to get decent knots. a mate was telling me he has seen something that kind of crimps these stiff hooklinks instead of tying knots. anyone know about this? I dont know if anyones used the carp r us riglets but that is the sort of thing im hoping make.
  9. the esp ones come in either 1metre or 1.5metre lengths. ive found the helicopter ones useful because they are so much quicker to tie on and your rigged up rather than splicing etc.
  10. I use the needle knot.
  11. Ive been using the fox kwik change swivels. the silicone covers keep it all nice and secure,
  12. I used leadcore without splicing. just removed an inch or so fo the lead from both ends. tie the floppy braid to my swivel using my normal mainline knot then tied the other end to my mainline with a needle knot.
  13. ive seen slugs on the bank and always wanted to give it a go, do they go for em alot?
  14. haha quality. good luck
  15. isnt it the same thing as hybrid? and all the coated braids? whats the difference? How do you use your snakebite then mate??
  16. this is what i used last weekend and blanked all day. how much stripped braid do you leave above the hook? what hooklength have you found to be most succesful
  17. its not there, it must be only available after a certain amount of posts? gutted it sounds like thats the info i need
  18. sorry mate i cant find it??
  19. hi, just back from the tackle shop, got some korda hybrid coated braid and long shank hooks. got some esp stiff rig, all tubing and hooks required all ready for my first rig making session tonight. really lookin forward to testing out a few of my own ideas with rigs instead of using premade ones but most of all so excited to land a carp forthe first time on my own made rig!!! just wondered if there is any advice you lot could offer me, have searched already and found lots of good tips but want to be as prepared as i can be and know what variations my be worth practicing first etc? cheers
