  1. Use them as normal pop ups? I've never had issues with the wafters from mainline being over buoyant... possibly a bad batch?
  2. At the risk of starting another Korda argument I really can't see the problem with what they do. They promote their products just like any other company does, maybe mr fairbrass could do a little less shouting when he nets a fish... that would be a bit more "wicked man"
  3. Isn't a Krank a lightweight hook? I fish mainline wafters on size 6 Kurv shanks tied kid style and they are fine
  4. I find a 15mm mainline wafters works well with a size 7
  5. Nash siren s5, 20 quid and a very good alarm
  6. I've got the gt3's in 3lb to and they are fantastic all rounders. They'll do long range and under the rod tip... But does your set up budget allow for pod/ buzzer bars, alarms and net etc? If so 2 of the gt3s coupled with a decent reel each then your budget is going to be used up. If I was you I'd look at the fox warrior range and team these with some wychwood riot reels, if you shop around should leave you about 100 quid to deal with alarms (Nash sirens s5 are very good budget alarms) one of the ft gear pods is quite good at a decent price and then maybe look at ngt for the net.
  7. Thanks DD We will be fishing Brook lake im told and will definitely try the maggots, thanks for the advice!
  8. Possibly done before but anybody fished here lately? I have been invited to have a social match here just before christmas with some of the fellas from work.Bit of a change from my local lakes here in Kent I've fished it once before many years ago but tbh it was full of idiots with rubbish and rats everywhere. Just wondering if things have improved at all?
  9. Always on the mainline with a tungsten mainline sinker about 2 foot above the hooklink. These pin the mainline to the deck and allow the lead to pass over in the event of a breakage. I used leadcore once and promised to never use it again
  10. I do, i'm just getting back into my fishing and there just seems to be a fascination with using safety clips etc which i see as a bit of a fashion thing and if set up incorrectly can do more harm than good. Its simple and i have the utmost confidence in it (like you say confidence is key). I've done a couple of sessions since starting up again and was having a chat with the baliff at the local water, we were discussing rigs and i mentioned i was on a running lead setup and he replied with "wow, first time i've seen someone use one of those on here for about 5 years!"
  11. Possibly done to death before but whats everyone's take on using the gold old fashioned running lead, does seem we all get bogged down in the world of safety clips etc nowadays . Anyone else use them if so what situation?
  12. Cheers, the area at the back of the bird island is where I was referring to, the swims just up from speech therapy were always a favourite. Have to say the improvement in swims etc is amazing compared to a few years ago! What would you say on going down the particle route, always like doing something a bit different to the rest of the crowd.
  13. Just getting back into my carp fishing after a 5 year absence due to kids coming along and rendering it impossible to have a social life or go fishing. I'd like to get the kids interested and think they'd quickly lose interest up at Brooklands where i'd be inclined to spend my days and was wondering if anyone had any info on the lakes at Crossways in Dartford. I know about campanile and the 2 run by BD angling but there is one more run by Stone Marsh angling club but i can't find any contact info about them and the old boy i spoke to down at the lake didn't have any either... if anyone has any contact details it would be appreciated. Secondly, Brooklands. Anyone fished it lately? I really fancy the back point swim on the channel that connects the comp lake to the a2 area as i had success there a few years ago. Again spoke to a couple of the guys fishing down there but its all very hush and any questions are usually met with the usual "nah nothing mate." Just like to get a bit more of a run down on how its been lately, worth fishing the Homebase bay? Not seen a soul fish it any time i've walked round.
