  1. Nash siren s5, 20 quid and a very good alarm
  2. I've got the gt3's in 3lb to and they are fantastic all rounders. They'll do long range and under the rod tip... But does your set up budget allow for pod/ buzzer bars, alarms and net etc? If so 2 of the gt3s coupled with a decent reel each then your budget is going to be used up. If I was you I'd look at the fox warrior range and team these with some wychwood riot reels, if you shop around should leave you about 100 quid to deal with alarms (Nash sirens s5 are very good budget alarms) one of the ft gear pods is quite good at a decent price and then maybe look at ngt for the net.
  3. Always on the mainline with a tungsten mainline sinker about 2 foot above the hooklink. These pin the mainline to the deck and allow the lead to pass over in the event of a breakage. I used leadcore once and promised to never use it again
  4. I do, i'm just getting back into my fishing and there just seems to be a fascination with using safety clips etc which i see as a bit of a fashion thing and if set up incorrectly can do more harm than good. Its simple and i have the utmost confidence in it (like you say confidence is key). I've done a couple of sessions since starting up again and was having a chat with the baliff at the local water, we were discussing rigs and i mentioned i was on a running lead setup and he replied with "wow, first time i've seen someone use one of those on here for about 5 years!"
  5. Possibly done to death before but whats everyone's take on using the gold old fashioned running lead, does seem we all get bogged down in the world of safety clips etc nowadays . Anyone else use them if so what situation?
