Crimbo tackle wish list

Recommended Posts

In my younger days I used to nick the neighbours bamboo canes he used for his runner beans Il tie elastic bands around the tops to hold them together for a rod stand worked a treat, a day after a late night commando raid to get some canes for my mate there was a knock on the door it was the neighbour 😳 here you go and gives me a bunch of canes and says I thought if I get you some canes il have a crop of beans to look forward to.

Not a Christmas list for me, but my boy wants a carp set up he can use back home, as he can only carp fish while he’s with me. He has to travel by bus/walking etc, so I just got him a pair of Leeda rouge 9ft 2.75 tc carp rods and a pair of 6000 shimano baitrunners 2nd hand for £40, they are immaculate and I’m secretly thinking of keeping them for myself!

A decent mixer to make some stiff bait, looking at the buffalo for 240 or a slight second for 190 either way I will wait till the sales finding a grinder is more difficult other than a electric mill wheel,  not that expensive so looks like the job the blade ones seem to burn out fast and don't like oil damn expensive too.

Basically a top notch bait rolling kit for amateur amounts so long as I can knock three kilo up with minimum effort I will be happy, the thought of only having freezer burnt retail bait ain't confidence building.

A winter sleeping bag was on my list after my Mrs asked , so I gave her a trio to choose from in preferential order .

The next evening I got told to “do one” whatever that means 🤣.

So I have to raise the money by other means . I sold enough stuff the other week to cover it … then the Boiler and Vets bills swallowed it .

I won’t be venturing out without one.

Oh the Vets bill, ouch!

Sky just had her annual check and jabs, that hurt me and my pocket more than her.

She's lost 2kg from last year, which is actually good, has lovely teeth and loves the vet and the veterinary nurse, probably because of the treats,  even though the vet gave her the needle.

Need a rucksack badly, the one I’m using at the mo is getting to look like a landing net  😏

Have a look at https://www.johnsonsofleeds.co.uk/product/mtp-bergan/

https://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/genuine-british-military-issue-mtp-90-litre-bergen-current-issue-1537723.html

I have updated my DPM 100litre to one of the new MTP Kombat Airborne bergens. They are slightly shorter and wider, and sit flat.

Trying to think what I need, although it would probably be just buying for buyings sake.

I'm terrible to buy for, my gear is usually chosen on my situation rather than for fashion.

It used to be easy!

I've been known to walk a good couple of miles fully loaded round the reservoir or lake.

Fully loaded with water that would be 100kilos, but spare clothes, waterproofs, stove, cooking equipment, and scales etc only weigh about 40kilos.

The 40litre Molle packs are available if you have a search through the surplus stores, and from personal experience they last.

The various specialists are looking to the conclusion of Long Covid having caused it.

Mate gets bad sciatica ruptured a couple of the fluid sacks you have in the spine I wouldn't take that long covid alone spondylitis is very hard to diagnose it's cuased by the fluid sacks allowing the spine bones to come into contact and crumble.

I've got the same but between my shoulder blades so it effects my arms, back and neck.  When really quiet I can hear the bone on bone grinding when I turn from side to side.  It also traps a nerve and I get pulses and shakes down my left arm.  Happy days - just from lifting my son in an awkward position - only heard a little pop then days later the pain was hell, thankfully it seems to get less of a problem each year, your brain has to learn not to stiffen all the muscles up to protect the injury as this just makes it much much worse.   That took about 5 years to re-program if you like - now I'm nearing 20 years since the injury, doc says I will need surgery - hopefully he is wrong.  I stopped taking meds after a couple of years as they mess with your insides, just have to ignore the pain as much as possible.

Well the Crimbo list just got a tad longer,

A customer of over 20 years got in touch today wanted to give me a Xmas card in person and to thank me for helping him move house earlier in the year.  I opened the card later on today and there was a cheque for £40 nice I thought and then I thought had they done away with cheques awhile ago 🤔

I showed the grandson as he’d never seen one and he said what you going to spend the £400 on …maybe new glasses 🤓 I wonder if the tackle shop is open tomorrow 🤔

The brother inlaw and I have got a gentleman’s agreement,  I always get him a £20 gift voucher from game, he’s into his playstation and he gets me a £20 gift voucher from my local tackle shop  win win. ..I seem to recall when he came over this Crimbo for a drink and we had a few 🥃🥃🥃  we had a chat about how you don’t get as much for your money these days,  so decided that it’s only fair that we up it to a £30 gift voucher.  🤔

Well the printer has arrived, got a couple lure molds designed, going to hopefully get it up and running today and start printing the molds off. Then just need to wait for the plastisol liquid and dyes to arrive so I can start making them 👍

Hi jh92

Just told my Wife about your printer - " fabulous "
