ouchthathurt
At 11pm, as I had the carp stacked up on my side of the swim, with my boy not having a bleep for several hours, I switched swims with him, moving all his gear into my going swim and all my gear into his quiet swim. He put his rods out over the spots I was catching from and he promptly had a screamer which resulted in a 21lb 2oz common, a mighty fine carp for this pond. we had one more each before it was time to wrap up and head home. ..., dalej2014, yonny and 7 others

dalej2014
An afternoon at the lake and a better fish to show for it. Alas, no pictures, but I did get a short video in the net - https://photos.app.goo.gl/XjBjMgxd3YiJ3uhR9 The fish wrapped up solid in weed, so I set the rod down until he kicked free. He came in with a cowl of Canadian, and plenty of energy left! So much he was thrashing about and I had to pop him back for fear of harm. Pva bag with groundbait, mixed pellets doused in fish hydro, and a home rolled Infrared fishmeal boilie. The scent when rolled reminds me of Activ-8. The scales gave me 18lb 9oz. 🎣😁 B B, jh92, crusian and 1 other
dalej2014
In other news our other local lake, the bigger if the two, had a fish out at 47lbs last week! I was told by two separate, and reliable people. It's entirely possible that one of the two forties in the lake will break the magical 50lbs this year. Obviously I am now on a mission! This lake has always been my nemesis, having yet to give me a single fish as yet. No small task then. Nonetheless, roll on Saturday 🎣🎣 ...

B B
And here’s one of many for me, had 14 in the end and we all had fish on zigs, floating crust with a controller and bottom rigs. Great fun using balanced light gear 2.25lb rods and reels to match… ouchthathurt, finchey, commonly and 4 others

ouchthathurt
Had two days at a campsite in Shropshire before taking my boys to their mums. Only did a few hours in the morning and night. ouchthathurt
Posts will be bit by bit I’m afraid… rods out on the first night. My new 9ft Kodex “stalkys” Txi 2.75lb getting a flex. rigs were simple 1oz running rigs with 4” 12lb fluro hooklinks with braided hairs on size 10 nash hooks, (those weird short shanked hexagonal looking ones, I can’t remember their name!) first fish soon popped up to a 12mm bottom bait with 7 bait stringer. Me and the boys posing with carp number one. this was carp number 2 as the sun set behind me (poor photography! Apologies!) carp number 3. Not bad for a few hours on arrival. dalej2014, crusian, ... and 3 others
ouchthathurt
My son was float fishing beside me but was having no joy, so I said he could hit the next run as they were coming at a rate of one every 10mins or so. When it screamed off, he went to action landing the first mirror of the trip, a proper prehistoric looking thing! The “mirror” issue became more pronounced as the days went on… next morning I woke up at 5am and headed to the swim, I had 3 small commons that went back unphotographed then my son arrived wanting to fish. So he plonked beside me with his float rod. As I was setting up his rod and plumbing the depth, a rod screamed off - I told my boy to hit it, which he did… another mirror! he wanted his carp rods setting up now, so he ran back to the tent to grab his carp rods. I moved my rods over so he could cast to my going spots and he promptly landed another mirror. I wanted a mirror yet all I was getting were commons. We then headed off to Shrewsbury for the day and on the evening we gathered at the lake for a final few hours. Now armed with maggots, my boy got going with the float rod while waiting for his (and my) carp rods to rattle off. yonny, crusian, dalej2014 and 3 others

ouchthathurt
I had a few more commons and both boys had one on at the same time even wifey got in on the action as it got dark, I had finally done a bucket of pellet and several kg of boilie, so I started to pack away in the dark. My boy had one more carp on his “big rods” he continued to fish with the float rod while I packed everything else away ready for the early morning run to wales the net morning. My boy was mocking me for having caught all the mirror carp to my none! I told him to bring the float rod in now as it was dark and time for bed but he wanted one more fish to end on a high, 5mins later his night night topped waggler dipped and he was in… you guessed it… a mirror! finchey, buzzbomb, commonly and 3 others
