December catch reports.

I'll start it off this month if I may.

It started raining when we got to the car park Saturday morning and didn't stop till about 5am this morning.

Managed about a dozen perch.

The biggest being 2lb 2oz.

Had a lovely common about 2,30am around the 20lb Mark, no photos or weighing as it was absolutely hammering down.

Then about half hour before I was due to leave I saw a nice mirror having a good old splash about , reeled in , put on a stick and cast straight out on top of it.

10 mins later a 28lb mirror .

Happy days.

He didn't want his photo taken at 1st.

😆

Well done mate... finishing off what's been a good angling year for you 😎

Yeah not to bad considering I haven't been out anywhere near as much as previous years.

Bit of a bonus session too as I didn't think I'd get one in before the new year.

Cheers Phil.

Well done Mufty , your perseverance paid off ; I think I would have been too busy sulking about the weather to catch anything let alone 2 x 20s' and a nice chunky perch .

To be fair mate there wasn't a lot of fishing skill involved.

It was pub chucking at its finest.

My mate also had a pb , lovely ghost common.

On a light ledger set up? Running or fixed if so. Sorry to drill ya, I've been targeting some stripeys but without much prevail

I'd normally float fish but the weather was against me.

So this time I used a 3/4 ounce lead on a running set up with a 4lb flourocarbon hooklink.

The hooklink was roughly 18- 20 cm with a size 10 wide gape hook.

Nice one. Similar to what I'm doing. But without the prawn. I'll give them a bash

One thing I sometimes  do is start off with a smaller hook and smaller pieces of prawn.

I've picked up some nice roach this way too.

If I start getting small perch I'll up the bait size to try and pick the bigger ones off.
