Because I've been doing a lot of fishing under the rod tips lately, I've started feeling like my 12ft rods are too long and I need some 9ft ones and smaller reels too, never ending isn't it, I am hoping to resist the urge but will see how it goes 😂

What about just bringing the tips further back from the waters edge 🤣🤣🤣

That's exactly what I do, Highy.

Ian.

Think I need to do it more often too, lately some of my fish in last session came from margins, so be set back more next week when I'm next out... Was planned for Saturday night while the Mrs was out, but lads 1st game of season is 10.30 kick off, then his England training at 4pm, so I'll be nice and stay at home, go next weekend inst2

Give a wipe & then greese it up . A wire brush will probably clean it up, if a wipe doesn't.  The drill attached ones would be nice for that .

Luckily it's not actual hard rust, I've just got some lubricating grease out garage, put it on a cloth and it wiped off, so I've cleaned all the stems on the reels and under the caps... New line will be soaking tomorrow night and put on Monday morning.

I've got boilie in the freezer which I'll be taking.... but I'm going down the tiger nut approach, not only do the fish like them but if helps combat the crays , which can be a pain at churn !! Taking the  floater kit too as I've had a fair few off the top over the years & adjustable zigs . Its one of those lakes that can offer lots of different approaches, during the session. The key is reading it & reacting. Certainly some rewards when you get it right .

some crazy looking alarms about these days i like the basic look of a fox, even if the new mx range looks nasty the new micron makes up for that though seem to be a very popular alarm.

I'll stick to my SKS all Purple I think, if I was to upgrade I'd go to the Gizmos, the SKX are too bulky, if I had the chance I'd go for the TXI D's all Purple (£550)

Phil, have you found the clear gravel patch near where the lake runs into the river? It's about a rod's length out and around 2 metres in diameter. Alan had four good fish from there in one day. Worth a look, mate.

Tom reckon the weeds never been so bad in 20 odd years mate , its preventing me from fishing the right had corner the way I need to . But its more to do with lack of fish this end . Nige & I are constantly around the lake looking for signs that fish are moving back this end but it just isn't happening for us . Hoping for another bite first thing in the morning.

Shame of it is that I've never considered Churn to have a weed problem. Hey ho, I'm sure you'll persevere. Give my best to the others, please.

Ian.
