Anyone fishing?

Went out with my daughter yesterday despite the weather forecast of high winds. It wasn't too bad as the swim we were in was pretty well sheltered, but still no luck. 5th session on the trot without so much as a bleep. Beginning to realise now why I don't particularly like winter fishing.

A guy turned up as we were packing up in the peeing rain, setting up for a 48. Respect. Not for me. 14 hours of darkness a night at this time of year in the freezing cold and wet is not my idea of fun. Much prefer 5 or 6 hours of darkness during June/July.

Before we got blown off the lake this evening...

Fishing, coffee, and Sky.

This evening around 9.30 gale force winds blew the bivvy inside out, blew the rods off the rests, and scared the hell out of Sky and me as I had to chase the bivvy down the bank to catch up with it.
Packed up in the dark, and drove back to Ipswich. Even that wasn't easy as the A120 was closed between Braintree and Marks Tey, so came back via The Colnes before joining the A12 at Colchester.

Hi Nick

Sorry to read about your woes .

Is your Bivvy damaged again ? .

We didn't have any gales on the coast  in Suffolk , you must have had rotten luck . :(

The A120 has been closed for me before - coming back from Stansted Airport and just wanting to get home .

It's good to see Sky is watching intently for any bites .

:)

Well hopefully you had some quality Father and Daughter time .

Have a great 1st day at your new job on Monday .

Not fishing g at the mo but have been putting a few handfuls of bait onto a few spots as well as a good spread on a lake I shouldn't...

He who dares Rodders!

Also, I've been feature finding on a lake that doesn't seem to hold much, if anything at all but could be worth a super secret ninja session.

The wire holding the spokes in place snapped again. It's whether I can be bothered to repair it again. It takes about 2 hours to to as I have to snip the second wire on the arm, take the spokes out of the holders at the outside, and put them back in the right order (4 spokes have storm pole attachments), then rewire it in order one by one.

It is a pain in the rectum!

Well you regularly use your Bivvy , so why not treat yourself to a new one .

Then you could repair your damaged Bivvy at your leisure and carry it as a spare ? .

:)

Had a great day despite blanking. But we both couldn't help thinking "roll on Summer!!"

Looking forward to starting tomorrow. Fingers crossed and thanks for the comment.

I have Interax's problem on work PC, so I can't like Smufter's photo at the moment, and pick up quotes from previous pages. but I really do love that picture.

Last few times I have been, Sky wouldn't have known what the buzzer sounding is; it hasn't happened for a long time :(

I got into work, and put an Oval Brolly and overwrap aside to pay for later in the day, and I think it might get used next weekend, as I seem to have Saturday and Sunday off:shock::D

Have you joined or doing the day ticket stuff.

I have joined, but it's not like a "normal" syndicate, more like a cross between one and a day ticket water.

You are "vetted" by completing an application form and going for an "interview" with the Bailiff.  Once given the green light, you then pay a membership fee and pay a further fee which varies depending on the session you decide to fish. It works out a similar price to day ticket waters around here, but the bonus is that the vetting, interview and membership fee tend to keep the idiots away.

No buzzing alarms at all times of the day, no knobs spodding across your swim, and complete peace and quiet with like minded individuals. Heaven.
