I think littlen will catch a monster down there.

Ha, ha.

A friends 12 year old son had a 33lber last weekend, out the reservoir.  Smashing his 15lb, previous. Also, 2lb more than my mates.

I'm hoping to get out next weekend.

Morning update....

I'm on 6 Carp 2 Bream lost 2....Mate on 14 Carp, little en 0.

From about 1am until now, it absolutely threw it down🌧🌧 🌩🌩 ⛈️⛈️, Thunder lightning (didnt forecast it for the night) reeled rods in as soon as it started, never put my groundsheet down, coz said it was dry until about 11am (according to weather) had a mini river going three Bivvy, everything lifted up on to my bee.

I'm ready for home now really, sweaty, wet, little tired.

So your Wife didn't rush down to the lake to rescue her little boy , and shout at his stupid Father for letting the lad stay out in such terrible weather ? .

🤣🤣, I'd hadn't forecast anything for the night, it was supposed to be sunny all Saturday, clear skies all night and only start raining from 11am, but just after it all started I packed everything away and just rode it out until about 9am, got home and blazing sunshine all day until about 1hr ago....

Everything all dry now.

Is it still considered cheating if you cast your rods but use the boat for baiting? It does make it a lot quicker, more accurate and less disturbing than spombing and it's easier in the dark too(covert baiting is coming soon) 😂

I use my boat just for baiting a lot of the time now, just clip the spomb line to the hook release at the back and it's a much quieter spomb, and my shoulders don't hurt because of all the casting 👍

Narr your good…

Have you ever used the bait boat to put a marker rod out there ? Tucked under an overhanging bush or tree just drop then drag it back to you.  🤔

Good idea with the spomb line, are you literally just putting a loop in the hook release? If so do you drop it and reel it in, only I feel sure my line would end up in my motors if I didn't send it out straight then detach the main braid before returning it , I've had a few instances where the line has gone round the prop and it does my head in lol

There are a lot of benefits of boat baiting like the accuracy and speed and stealth, much less likely to get noticed if you're not crashing a spod out all night long and if you want to leave a lot of bait on a spot gamechanger.

I put a little metal clip at the end of the loop with a little sleeve to stiffen it up a bit and help me hold it in place whilst the pin from the boat opens and closed, I might add a little more weight to that clip as it doesn't always drop straight away with some tension present.

If not got a hook release I can have one hooper for bait and the other for the spomb/leading lead and drop the lead off to the side of the spot after dropping the bait from the first hopper, reel it in and repeat.

Yeah drop the spomb line last before returning the boat.  I had a couple of accidents when I first got the boat but I've just learned that you have to hold the line tight whilst fine manouvering or use a stiffer Flouro leader instead of a supple braided leadless - which gets sucked straight into the motor if not careful - which I did twice in one session - soon learned 😂🤦‍♂️

Brilliant thanks I think that makes sense I have got a hook release on my boat, what about using a double loop and use the smaller end loop to attach to the hook release and then have the lead attached to the 1st loop then it would slightly hang off the back and should drop everytime.

I'm thinking more like a tiny weight from my lure box, just a few grams or maybe upto 1oz so it still helps with the release a little and also goes down really slow after the drop so I can quickly reel it back up and out along the surface - so less risk of it snagging the rod(s).

Glad you mentioned it I forgot about the adding weight idea 👍

I did think maybe a marker float would give it enough weight to drop off of if looped on, but it would still float maybe worth a try.

Choice between rod shots, or dog pictures. Sky with a chew to keep her happy and Rods back out after the joyful disturbance this morning;

2 on buzz bars, 1 towards another spot where carp have showed.

The buzz bars are with the goalpost converters in place.
