He has told Andy to use his money and 'buy the lads some beers for the bbq' So that's what mr wilkinson has gone and done!!! Cheers mufty, I was looking forward to catching up again. Maybe next time.    Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Mufty, You sir are a gentleman & a scholar.  Sorry you can't make it. Well raise a glass to you. InteraX
Hi all,Now that this is only a week away, I'm thinking about bait and tactics, not that I haven't tried to think about it before.... I've never tackled a water this size before and from what I understand it's usually very weedy, especially at this time of year.I've never used a marker float before but from what I understand this is almost a must if you want any hope of catching and I've just read of people spending 6 hours finding clear patches. If this is the case, am I best in setting up my 3rd rod with a running lead and float to do this? Now to baiting. I'm going to have to rely on shop bought stuff. I was thinking Cell boilies or Robin Red pellet as I've had some success on this before. I've got a spod rod that I've never used before but will probably get that setup with a spomb before I leave. I'm not really looking at using a spod mix. Will this hamper me at all? Is there any other advice you want to throw my way? I want to make the most of this opportunity to fish such a historic water. Really looking forward to it.

welder
Andy called into our business unit earlier today to blag a cup of tea and have a chat. Good job he did, as he told us that the Bailiffs at Horseshoe now carry out frequent rig checks and that all but barbless hooks are banned. As are leaders of any sort. Â I've just spent some time on their website checking out the rules, of which there are many. Glad I did, though, as I don't want to risk getting chucked off. Â Ian This doesn't surprise me mate .... even with the very limited visits I've had up there this year , i've pulled in some shocking rigs as did Andrew when we met there at the start of the year . All handed in to miles at the office, which resulted in him saying they are going to have to start proper rig checks . Even if I don't make it up to fish will definitely pop up & at least drop off the trophy for Alan mate ( I haven't forgotten)

Even if I don't make it up to fish will definitely pop up & at least drop off the trophy for Alan mate ( I haven't forgotten) I'd add that the leader rule is no knots above the lead. So even using short pieces of leader material to make drop off inline rigs/pva bag rigs isn't allowed. I had a good chat with a baliff when invited to fish one of their other waters earlier this year and it coming up in conversation. muscle20
so even with a spliced leader you would have a knot on the mainline (using loop to loop) although the mainline knot would be smaller than the leader material dia. Â also those of us going early will need to move at least once as you can only do 4 days in a swim
