What reels?

Recommended Posts

Something with a really good drag (clutch) just in case you get into some good fish. The leading manufacturers have all had hits and misses but some models are known for quality. Size has to do with requirements (the waters you plan to fish) and personal choice. I like a big reel so on my Spirit 2.75 I have a Shimano xte-a 10000. There may be others chime in on this momentarily, but I have to keep painting.

Any reel with the name starting with Shimano and ending in baitrunner will do nicely.

I mostly find i'm using my 8010's in most situations as i haven'tfished a BIG pit yet !

I would love a set of baby baitrunners for the odd pond i chuck a bait into but the shimano ones look cakkkk :(

Someone once told me Daiwa make decent reels but i think that was more hype than fact ROTFLMAO-1.gif

I did mate, but I think Mr Welder used his mod privileges to change it back

Well, yes. I did.

I like to play up, too.

PS  To tell the truth I've got Daiwa reels as well as Shimano. It's just that a few months ago I bought three Shimano Bigbaitrunner Longcasts , they are just sublime and I'm in love with them.

Are the shimano St6000 rb bait runners any good?

Yes, they are but have a look at the ST10000RA's. Virtually the same price but slightly larger spool capacity.

My son uses three of them and loves them to bits. Less than £50 each if you look around and worth every penny in my humble opinion.

Personally with 2.75lb Tc rods I would go for 10000 size Baitrunners, I think the 6000 range is too small

As for reels, for me, There can be only one...

Shimano!

As an additional, the DL range is the next range up from the ST, I think, I can see no reason to spend DL money unless you honestly prefer them, the quality is no less than the cheaper range.

Just wondering why you'd say the 6,000 is too small. The diameters the same, the only difference is the depth of the spool. The 6,000 holds 240m of 0.35mm line. I wouldn't think it would help casting and the only real benefit is the extra line holding capacity but for most situations the 6,000 would hold enough? Am I missing something? If not then I'd pick the 6,000 if their cheaper as they're essentially the same reel.

Like Dal, I can't remember who it was who said about Shimano price drops, but they are also updating the range for 2016, so 2015 models are currently being put on offer at many tackle shops.

I have been contemplating a set of Ultegras or Medium Baitrunners myself...

On offer of course!
