j92
What's the best way to grind up seeds, pellets etc? I've been using a blender but I've found it takes a long time to turn it into a fine powder and even then, there's still some particles in it. Also, because of the time it takes, you can smell the motor burning out lol. Any suggestions? thanks
dayvid
If not the blender then some form of crushing device , a smaller version of a millstonea s you would make flour, j92

No luck on millstones though lol
ianain
There will be an optimum amount of particles to add to the mixer at a time - trial and error I'm afraid Sieve the powder out as you go, i.e. grind some sieve it put the big bits back in the blender (or discard), then top up - this will reduce the load on the blender - you will always get some bits that are very difficult to grind to a powder. Depending on how small the particles you want are, it may be worth getting a spice grinder - the type which are quite small so you will be able to do a bit at a time. It will be a long job. j92
ianain
Oh and keep cleaning out the grinder as you will get blocks forming under the blades, mind your fingers and un-plug the blender when cleaning it. j92
dalthegooner
I use a coffee grinder but, as Ian says, it is a long job. The coffee grinder is designed for even less prolonged use than a blender and can only be used for 30 seconds ish at a time, then left for 30 seconds etc. and within about 10 minutes the motor is very hot and you have to leave it for 30 minutes or so. j92

mooseman
J92 what you need mate is a brewers grain mill/grinder. Hand powered like an old meat grinder but adjustable so you can have any coarseness you like. Works like a charm! j92
newmarket
I'm not a Particle fisherman , not in the sense that we know it anyway , so im going to ask a genuine but Noddy question here . Why would anyone want to go to the trouble of buying prepping and cooking a shed load of Particles only to want to grind it into dust ? mooseman
No prep needed Newmarket, you just grind the dry particle as they are.
