Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm due to be going to a lake in France for a week next summer that has carp up to around 50lbs in it what mainline would you guys suggest i use? It's going to be the first time iv fished anywhere with fish this sort of size so any other advice would also be welcome. ThanksĀ

I wouldn't use anything different t what you use here. Unless its mega weedy, i would just stick to your usual line, in 12lb, or maybe 15lb if you feel you must. Have you checked the lake rules?

Yeah and they say a minimum of 15lbs and my hook link needs to be coated is all they say

Then 15lb it is. It takes a massive fish to be able to snap 10lb line in a linear pull, but it gives you a bit of breathing room for knot strength and line damage. 15lb line is pretty much a tow rope, nothing is snapping that in open water. Maybe a whale.Ā
