blanksalot
Blatant c&p from elsewhere. e With cork dust you need 50/50 split, not in weight but volume, I use a small glass and full it with each, pour into a bag and give it a good shake, I then add a bit of egg albium to help everything bind more too! Mix egg/eggs with oils liquids and flavors then mix.
blanksalot
And again; Right we are now onto my favourite way of making pop ups… Cork Dust. To make cork dust pop ups you will need to go by volume rather than weight. I always use the following measurements as a starting guideline for a one egg mix although you may end up needing more or less mix depending on the size of your egg. Okay so you will need; One level coffee mug of your chosen base mixOne level coffee mug of cork dustHalf a coffee mug of egg albumin (very important as it helps bind)One large egg5g potassium sorbate diluted in 10ml warm water (makes them shelf life)5ml concentrated bait flavouring1tsp coloured powdered food dye buzzbomb

newmarket
Okayyyyy , i seized upon a window of opportunity yesterday , while my little boy was akip , to start the process . I mixed everything up , turning everything including me into a bright orange colour The balls of paste were a lovely consistency all ready to roll when my boy woke up and i was unable to continue without turning him orange as well so i popped the paste into a bag and placed it into the fridge . No idea when im going to get a chance to roll these boilies now so how long can i keep the paste in the fridge . Or should i freeze it ? ouchthathurt
I would give the child warm milk and piriton syrup!! Have a lovely sleep... I find its best to get them rolled and boiled up before they dry out and crack. Freezing it may not have any adverse affects, but again, i would be concerned about losing the moisture and drying out the bait which could "burn" or ruin it. I used to put my unboiled mixes in the Fridge and the surface would harden and crack. I was using quite a coarse fishmeal/betaine/GLM so may well have dried out quicker than yours. Have you found the cork dust dried your mix out?
newmarket
No ouch not at all . In fact i found that i had to add a little bit more basemix towards the end to get rid of that horrible wet tackiness that makes it a nightmare to roll. Although maybe that was caused by the salmon oil
ouchthathurt
Well maybe the oil content that is keeping so "moist" will keep it from drying out and cracking? then add the extra base mix when you come to roll it? May work...
newmarket
Either way i've used up the little cork dust and dye that i had and i now have two balls of paste that have been in the fridge for about 18 hrs and dont know when i'll get a chance to complete the process so basically can i freeze it or have i wasted it ? dalthegooner
I'd freeze it. It's better than leaving it in the fridge.
newmarket
Yeah i think youre right mate ..... Its done . As a footnote : did you used to stand on the north bank singing " willie willie give us a wave " ?
blanksalot
Wrap it in newspaper too, i find it helps against freezer burn
newmarket
Right i've bumped this thread up because i've finally had a chance to roll the frozen paste that i put in the freezer back in april . Orange hookies , exactly 72 of em , ranging in size from 22 mm round to 14 mm pillows and dumbells . Odyssey XXX basemix , corkdust and orange too all pop ups ( hopefully ). Now , ( hopefully without putting the mockers on it ) i intend to use some of em this week coming so i have a few questions that i'm hoping you lot can help me with . With bottom baits i would normally leave em out overnight then stick em in an air dry bag but since they are pop up hookbaits and i want to use em from tuesday onwards ..... How soon can i test em to find out if they float ok ? I dont really want to air dry these and i want to glug a few SO... Can i freeze most of em straight away ( literally just boiled em) ? If not when should i ? The ones i wanna glug will be laced with XXX glug and/or salmon oil so can i do THAT straight away ? If not when ? If i dont get told any different im going to leave em out overnight like i would do with bottom baits and then freeze/glug them tomorrow but i hope a few of you will get back to me this evening . Thanks fellas
dalthegooner
You can test them as soon as they cool down. I'd give it about an hour. You can glug them at the same time, although I'd probably wait until the morning, if not Monday morning. The more they dry out, the more glug they will take on board
newmarket
Ok mate i'll stick em in a AD bag till monday morning then glug 'em . Unless i hear different i'll freeze the remainder in the morning . Cheers matey.
