bigboy Posted June 18, 2012 Report Share Posted June 18, 2012 I went to highway spring,this week end,,i didnt catch any,,but this one person was using sweetcorn,,and catching the hell out of them,,in 12 hours he catch 60 fish,,8lbto 28lb the sweet corn he made up was a little more yellow than just sweet corn,,maybe mustard,,it also had a red tint to it ...any one come across this before...i would like to know more about this ...thanks [/b] Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For the most part carp fisherman in the US aren't hiding secrets. Most are happy someone else is respecting them as a sportfish and happy to share tips. One sweetcorn combination that‘s good on wild carp is anise or coconut flavoured corn with a little red food colouring to make it stand out, fished over some loose yellow sweetcorn. Chinese Five Spice Powder is good too - try mixing a bit in some corn and see if it‘s the same shade as what he had..... it used to work pretty well. garysj01 Posted June 20, 2012 Report Share Posted June 20, 2012 Surely instead of worrying what the other angler was catching on you should try your own combination, no one bait will ever out fish another day in day out, try soaking corn or maize in either liquid mollasses or black treacle, theres a lot of combinations out there that will catch plenty of fish. Garysj01 these are paylakers, they‘re fishing for money and if he can find out what the one guy who‘s winning is using it‘d be a big help. If it‘s making the catcher lots of money he‘s mixing his bait up out of sight, checking on who‘s downwind, and not leaving any evidence, but knowing he‘s using frozen corn either in pack or as hookbait is a start.
