You don’t need a bivvy heater

decent bag and a water bottle and maybe a winter skin and that should be good enough

    whatever you do

please don’t use gas heaters it’s just too risky..

Spot on mate, never used anything except a decent bag tbh. When I got into night fishing a bivvy heater was never really spoke of lol, now you're seeing things on Facebook where people are using diesel heaters etc, madness lol

I like the hot water bottle idea though 👍

So what are you saying fellas ? ; it reads like you both want to be made a fuss of 😁 .

I'm a Postie , and usually what happens is a passing dog may strain at its lead to come over to me , and have a good sniff of my trainers . Then I'll give the dog a stroke after letting it sniff my hand .

I just love meeting handsome dogs , who are much prettier than their owners 🐶.

I'm a delivery driver, love meeting the customers dogs, even bring treats with me 🤣🤣

  3. If you have power tools you can get a USB adapter for the batteries, about £10 I think, I think mine hold about 2 phone charges each.

Also have the allpowers r600 with a 100w solar panel for long sessions. Haven't used the panel yet but the battery is a beast and haven't been able to use it all up on a trip yet 🤣

That’s crazy seeing them paddling in yer swim 😳

They ended up in the bay, just on my left. I think it annoyed me more than the fish, expect they are used to it, with all the boats and water sports etc lol.

I'm heading back there next Monday for 5 nights so will be prepping this week.

Is there much difference in Chinese and French hemp?

Great pic and what a lovely morning for you, bet that Common has never seen a hook before.

Thanks mate yeah I reckon the same, they fight so hard!! And I've managed to christen one of the daiwa reels as well 🤣

This rig done the business, the bait is sitting like a wafter would.

Just spoke to the bailiff and it's been fishing really slow at the moment with only 3 fish coming out in the last 2 weeks so hopefully its just the fish not feeling it and not my angling 🤣🤣

I've been watching the water and early morning and late evening they are coming right into the weed in the margins. I have very little experience fishing in weed, but wondering if I should try a chod rig on a heli setup 🤔

That being said rain is coming in tomorrow from early morning so might just do the day and go home this evening, hate packing up wet gear 🤣

Best of luck looking good 👍… is that fresh weed in front of you ?

Yeah mate it's like grass 🤣 I'm thinking of moving my baits to the edge of it, I didn't have anything last night but they were jumping close in and I reckon they getting amongst it 🧐

    Lovely morning tho 👌

  7. So the rods are put

    20240412_200122.thumb.jpg.8b1f0b3809a0b2e02f7f455a0c3b3743.jpg

I'm fishing off the bottom of a slope, roughly 15ft in depth 14 wraps out. 20 spombs of tigers/hemp/flaked maize.

So the traps are set, rods been out for about 6 hours. The fish have just started showing in front of me but like 5 or so wraps off where my hookbaits are.

Now deciding whether to wait it out and hope they move out towards my baits or put a rod on them 🤦‍♂️anyway its good to be back on the bank🤣

Groundsheet from bivvy - store separate 👍

    Why buy something extra?

Might have an old one floating around mate, I use a groundsheet all the time now since watching a spider appear out the ground 🤣🤣🤣

Not necessarily. You can tie a knot below the chod to keep the lead away from the rig. As long as the top bead can move, it's safe.

So the knot would stop the rig slipping down to the lead when hooked up? If I remember correctly I seen Alan Blair spice two bits of leader to an O ring, one end would be the top half of say 2 or 3 foot where your chod rig and beads sit then on the other side of the ring would be like 6 or 8 inches of leader down to the lead. So in effect when hooked up the rig will slide down to the ring and stop leaving the lead clear of the fish. If that makes sense 🤣 and is that just as safe?

As @yonny says a knot below the chod will keep the lead clear.

In fact, with a chod (or helicopter) setup should you unfortunately have a crack-off, you need the lead to allow the rig to come off the top end past the beads.

So really, if you're dumping the lead on chod rigs/heli setups, it's not as safe as keeping the lead on?

  11. Slow sinking bread is always a good shout 👍 can recommend the bread bombs from nash when fishing with bread 👍

With mixers we used to soak them in hot water until they start expanding, drain it then lay out in the sun for an hour. They shrink and toughen a little 👌
