When you are fishing through heavy weed and cant find a gap with the marker float then you will need to up your game. Let me tell you, chod rigs are not the answer, they dont provide perfect weed presentation. All you need is a loose lead clip with leader, eg:korda or nash and a long braid hooklength of about 12inches (1 foot). Use a pop-up bait and hook on a PVA nugget before casting. It will now slowly sink down ontop of the weed and your lead will break through the weed and your 12inch hooklength is really going to help...
Chods don't work......really ..ask stoogi

Anyone tried their local health centre.
I walked in and asked for some new needles/syringes and they gave me a box of 10
Did'nt mention they were for fishing though

I use 20lb ESP stiff bristle on occasions.
I've tried this knot because i could'nt tie the knotless on smaller hooks (8-10's)because of the eye size,
still struggled because i'm all thumbs so seeking a simpler solution i came up with this..

Ok fella's, hooklink material and length
What hooklink materials do you use and what are your reason's for doing so?
Plus why do you tie them a certain length?
Mainly coated braid, 6-8" long, longer if on silt but i may change to a combi rig for that, some pics on this thread

Yes Interesting, however my new rig the hook will hang down aggressively, and the hook has no knot so free movement is achived, also a braid hair for the balanced hook bait, now that's a tad different.
Edit, Thanks John you just gave me a spark to make it even better!
Interesting..

Try one change at a time or you'll never know what the problem was.
I'd start by removing the silicone from the bend and see how that fairs, that type of rig has never worked well for me,

Has anyone else got anything to say about this line now that they have been using it on their reels for a while?
I've been using it for a couple of months now in 12lb, sits nicely on the spools (wychwood exorcists), casts well enough to the 100yd mark even though most of my fishing is half that range, wasn't sure on the colour after using fluro and my current lake is very clear, but fishing it slack they obviously can't see it as i've had 9 fish in two outings including a pb common,
overall very happy with it and would use it again

Good luck to you all, look forward to some great pics on your return

Not sure it would work for a 'D' rig as you've already doubled up the line to tie the knot so having room for a third through the eye seems unlikely and it'll sit wrong with the knot below the shank.
Have a look at the snell knot, does'nt use the eye like a knotless and it'll put the 'D' where you need it
I like the knot but I am obviously being thick here because I still don't understand how to put the D in?
It'll leave you a hair/tag that will go down the eye for the D, tie one, you'll see how easy it is

perfection loop knot

does'nt sit on one side like the figure eight, much neater.

You could use a knot that doesn't require using the eye
some say stronger that a knotless too
Used to tie spade ends years ago like this

It depends how you tie your rigs, if you use a loop or a rig ring then push a stringing needle through the mesh then pull back through, keeps the hook hidden and fairly taffle free.

Have you all found the holy grail of hooks, one that you'll keep buying over and over and stockpile incase they stop making them
For the forseable future i'll be sticking to fang twisters for my boilie rigs and on the odd occasions i fish smaller baits esp raptors T-6's.
It's not that i've lost any fish on other types i've used but these just fill me with confidence that on the rare occasion i get a take , it'll end up in the net
So what does everone put their trust in?

Today i set about tying some chod style rigs but wanted to try a smaller hook.
I only had ESP stiff in 15lb and knew i'd struggle getting it through the eye three times on a size 8 korda mixer.
The return on the knotless knot was difficult enough so making the 'D' ring was next to impossible so i came up with this idea..
I've seen terry hearn do a version of the snell knot when tying chods but with my clumsy fingers that'll get messy
So what do you think?

Bon voyage, j'espère que vous attraper un morceau ou deux

You could try 'chain reaction' over the line/leadcore, no residue once dissolved

what i find weird about the picture is that you seem to pin the rig at both ends, how come you dont use the bar for the hook out of interest?
i generally have around 10-15 rigs tied up at anyone time and re tie them every few sessions
Well until today i did use the bar, then i realised that if i pinned both ends i could see the various hair lengths better making selection easier
I need help. i've just ordered another three lots of hooks so that means more rigs
To be fair though i'm going to try my hand at making some zig bugs so i'll only need one more rig wallet so i can have one of each colour ready to go
-
Today i decided to have a bit of a spring clean through my gear ready for a day session tomorrow.
Seems i have a bad habit of putting my rigs into my odds & sods box once i've finished fishing rather than back in the wallet
Turns out there were fifteen or so in there
So a tidy up, some fresh rigs tied, some sacrificed to the bin and i now have a few to choose from
I have some more made up in the shed but i think this will do for now.
Is this O.C.D & do i need councelling? Someone here must have more than me
