  1. Its available through the normal Ampthill AC ticket, but requires the syndicate ticket to enable you to night fish. The pit is over 260 acres, has a stock of around 200 carp, and apparently holds some lovely originals, 70 percent commons, 30 percent mirrors. Its not something I plan to target any time soon, but definately in the future as my first larger carp water that will take a couple of years (at least) to get to know the basics. The advantage about it being fairly close is that I would be able to spend plenty of time there. I'll definately be getting myself down there some time soon to have a wonder about.
  2. There have been a couple of threads, but these were a fair while ago and had bairly any replies. Just wondering if anyone could offer any up to date info on stock, conditions of the carp and of the lake itself. Cheers!
  3. Don't get excited nige! Only me! Looks like we may have to update ourselves, just give it a few months
  4. Going to be trying out using fluorocarbon leaders. Getting the Korda IQ 20lb I think. Looking forward to giving it a go....not looking forward to wasting a whole 7 odd quids worth trying it over and over
  5. It wearnt when we went I put it down to the fact that it went from no pressure, to around 40 anglers in one day! The night before the 40 anglers set up, Nige had 11 fish..
  6. And what a social it was Here's how my hauling went...
  7. Have a look on google earth! You may find something close to you that is nice and hidden away.
  8. Still lovely and warm over there then! Looks like a good day was had by all! Good stuff.
  9. I'm not too sure about this method, as occasionaly the baits will come off the hair and the carp will eat them...leaving them to digest bits of lead wire? Surely not very safe for the carp?
  10. Just a quick one to see if anyone belongs to the SDAA. Started work in Arlesey and popped into the local tackle shop today to ask about waters in the area. I'm very much liking the pictures of Willington lake, and can't wait to get over there to have a look myself. Also going to have a look at the blue and green lagoons actualy in Arlesey. Next to no info on the internet so any opinions on any of the waters under the SDAA ticket, or just in the general area would be greatly appreciated Cheers
  11. Some people don't publicize what they find a successful tactick as it could loose its effectiveness...or maybe he is still fiddling with it to make it as efficient as possible. Either way, I'm sure he wouldn't want to share it with you now, and I hope you don't talk to everyone in the way that post came across
  12. Good results mate. You know those pies I said I'd bring over, I'll do a swap for some of your bait
  13. I'm not a mod but I'm sure they won't mind me pointing you in the direction of the 'catch reports'. Or if its just general photography, go for the scenic pics and wild life
  14. As long as it is made properly I can't see why it wouldn't work. By 'made properly' I mean made so that the cluster of boilies are tight enough not to flex and maybe mask the hook. It should stop a few of the 'small' fish from getting their mouths round it, although to be honest I'd love to be getting the results you are I hope this works for you in the future! I'm sure some of the experienced guys will be able to offer some advice over the next few days. Weekends can be very quiet. Take care dude I really fancy some grapes now
  15. Cheers kev! Read them straight away. Good stuff!
  16. Steak and kidney? Chicken and mushroom? Steak and onion? I'll bring 'em all no worries
  17. I'm going to have to drop by when I make it to HK in a couple of years Its one of those places that I would never have considered fishing!
  18. As said, great pics! The lake looks gorgeous with the hills all around. Is it a deep one?
  19. I bet you'd be fine mate, from what I've read its got some productive margin spots and the deep open water has high bars on it that you'd probably find spots on or around. Its no oil painting though the ground looks pretty rough and it has big changes in water levels and its got thorny bushes all round - it wins no prizes on looks. Very much like my current water but a different shape. I can see me joining within the next few years I'll find the magazine and PM you the details, if you cant get it I'll try scanning it for ya! Any chance you could let me know the details too? Any idea how long the waiting list for pit 1 is now?
  20. I thought I heard Paprika too! Definately a well deserved smile
  21. Just opened my cupboard to see 4 tins of beans and wondered if there would be anything on the forum about baked beans! After reading this, I think I am definately going to have to give them a go. I'm thinking mix some sweetcorn and boilies in and maybe use sweetcorn on the hair...but how much is too much? And would it be best to throw all the sauce in too!
  22. Tutti fruttis...most of my fish have been off tuttis since i started a few months ago. Also heard that they like fruit flavours in beckerings
