    Hi all

does anyone know how I can get hold of bait from bait asylum? I really can’t find any info albeit I’m not on Facebook or instagram etc. I’m in Cornwall so quite far away. Any info hugely appreciated 👍

The company is run by a guy called Kenny Gates. The business is based at Malgraves Industrial Estate, Lower Dunton Road, Bulphan, Essex RM14 3TE. I can't find a phone number and he's not on Facebook. However, there are a few clips on YouTube which you may find useful. Just type in Asylum Baits. Hope this helps, mate.

    Hey guys,

I’m planning a trip to France soon and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for carp fishing venues over there? I’ve heard that France has some of the best carp fishing in Europe, so I’m really excited to explore some new waters.

One thing I’m curious about though is whether or not bait boats are allowed at these venues. I’ve been using a bait boat for a while now and it’s really helped me get my bait exactly where I want it, but I know that some venues have rules against them. So if anyone has any insight on that, I’d really appreciate it

    Thanks in advance!

Over the years I've fished several venues in France and every one I've fished has allowed the use of baitboats. Indeed, several of them have boats for hire.

  3. I too tend to find larger venues a  bit intimidating, it's like fishing an ocean! I agree with all that Framey says, particularly the part about breaking a large lake into a series of smaller ones, psychologically.

I try to remember to never overlook the margin, it's the one feature that every water has and is frequently ignored.

I remember being told that three things will find fish. Observation, observation and observation.

    Hi

I have a £150 budget and I'm looking for a barrow for 2 or 3 day night sessions I don't have tons of gear please could some of you recommend me something

I have been looking at the ngt 2 wheeeler bit I know there a low price company

    TIA guys

I've just had a look on Facebook Marketplace and found several carp barrows available. A Carp Porter Mk11 Wideboy in as new condition, complete with the uderslung carrier thingy, for £150 was among them.

If I didn't already own one I'd be on my way to buy it.

    Fancy going fishing Ian?

    I hope you're well mate?

Yes, I'd like that. I wouldn't enjoy it so much in cold weather as some of the medication I take to keep my heart working thins my blood so I really, really feel the cold.

So I'll attend if it's warm ish. Oh, I haven't been able to access this site for several days. Again. What's up now?

I haven’t been able to get on to this wonderful site for a while but just managed to log in …has then been trouble at t mill 🤔 ??

I had the same problem for a while. Eventually I contacted Nick who had a word with Richard, the site owner. It seems that a couple of formats couldn't support this site. Now resolved I'm pleased to see.

Has no one had a fish yet this year??

A good friend of mine had his new pb and 2 other very nice fish yesterday.44

He has been putting in the effort and quite a bit of bait for the last few months.

He's made up as you can see

The smile says it all and confirms that effort equals result. Fair play to the gentleman.

I do remember you with no eyebrows...

Did you end up pencilling them back on?

Didn't see pink reels or rods back then!

I seem to remember someone did some DPM green and brown alarms, can't remember who though.

The eyebrow shaving was an experiment, not to be repeated. I looked very clean but permanently astonished.

Oh, and no, I didn't pencil them back on. I grew them back in a fetching shade of grey. Greyness being to cause of the experiment...........

  10. Is there such a thing as a one man bivvy that's tall enough to stand up in? I've just got a syndicate ticket on a local water and the JRC 2-man XXL 2G Monster Thingy I usually use won't fit into several of the swims.

I've grown used to the comfort and convenience of a tall bivvy but need a relatively small footprint.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

I dunno if I’m honest . I’ve been looking on and off for years and I’ve never been able to get any information .

JRC have changed and/or updated their  Bivvy range regularly over the years but have never been able to find out if any of the newer wraps would fit the STi’s especially the 2man versions.

Ian ( @welder   ) owns or at least owned one at one time .

if you see this post Ian do you think it might do the trick ?

it’s an awful lot of dosh to waste on taking a chance , after all.

Still got it, along with the extension piece for the groundsheet. Both are like brand new and are never used since I bought a bigger bivvy.

    Speak to me.

    Hi Ian,

We have decided on Ashmire. Link above.

Sadly, due to the lack of interest a smaller venue.

Looks to be well stocked, reasonably priced and we can all nip back to Elmo's for a shower🙂

@chillfactor & myself fancy 3 nights. As above etc. Also the lucky so & so is off to Europe on Friday.  We are hoping to get this booked, deposit etc sorted before then . So we can confirm you and your son?

Would you want to stay on for the Sunday night too?

    Glad you responded pal.

Ashmire looks great to me. Who do I pay? I'd be up for 3 nights, too.

    Yes, that's right mate.

I love fishing venues that feel a bit special. That place has its own story and I think it would be a fitting venue, if we can get the  numbers.

That said, I'd be open to sensible suggestions.

My thinking is early autumn. September/October??

I've messaged Andy, asked him to look in on here with any advice he can offer. I've done Horseshoe several times and it's a bit special! I've mentioned all this to my son Alan and he's well up for it. oh, and your proposed dates would be fine with both of us.

    Nice one Ian.

I will do my best and probably ask you for some guidance.

I'm sure one of the carp society guys messaged last time. He was able to get us on Horseshoe

That was Andy Wilkinson aka Andy52. He and I are friends on Facebook. Would you like me to drop him a message to see if he's still a bailiff at Horseshoe?

    Ian.
