July Catch Reports

It is meant to be really hot tomorrow I think, I'm taking the youngest to a junior session for a couple of hours, I took my eldest after school this week to the local mudpool, it was literally a bite a chuck, she caught roach, rudd, perch, skimmers, chub, a small baby barbel, small tench, and a 2lb bream, we used some cheese string to catch the barbel, next time I take her we are going to use different baits to try and catch the bigger ones lol5 points -

Got home, from zombie sheep lake this morning early as I had to call the water company as they had “noticed an increase in our usage” after explaining that I haven’t installed a hot tub/swimming pool and that I am not holding playboy bunnies pool parties every weekend, (the wife might get annoyed!) they informed me that my daily water usage is 900L a DAY!! I did a few tests they told me to carry out which proved there is a significant leak in the water main feeding my house, so they have to come dig up the road… 🙄🙄 after the shock I felt I better go relax, so went to a local pond to freeline a mixer or 2. Lost a small mirror in the pads after it skilfully transferred my hook from it lip to the nearest stem then caught this little chap. he proper nailed the mixer, it was a forceps job about 1.5” back!4 points -

I'm thinking of doing 24hrs Sunday, if I can be bothered sorting my gear tomorrow, I'm in one of those can't get the motivation to go fishing at the moment moods, I'm just not feeling it, if I can make the effort I know I'll enjoy when I get on the bank. 😁👍2 points -

Gulp ! . Sounds like the leak is not on your land so you are covered ? . I’m looking forward to reading that everything is resolved with no expense to you , Ouch . 😃1 point -

Sounds like he’s a busy boy now . Maybe laying off Staff in order to keep his prices down is one way of reducing overheads and is to be commended with obvious sympathy for those that lost their jobs ( if indeed that IS the case , I’m obviously just guessing). As an aside , Shelf life are now back on the menu at Essential. Mr Wilmott has obviously sourced what he needs from elsewhere. Bit late for me though as I was already committed to 20kg of fresh stuff . My garden is now full of air drying bags as I only managed to squeeze 5kg into the freezer . In the words of the song , there’s a whole lot of shaking going on 😂1 point

On the first night I ever fished it, never seen the place before, just took a punt on the ticket as it was cheap, £40 a year. it was a wild and windy night and I really wasn’t feeling it, the place was full of sheep, being located slap bang in the middle of a sheep farm. As it was getting dark, I saw a white mass floating in and coming to rest under the rod tips, sticking a torch on it, I saw it was a dead sheep! I retired to my carp cot in disgust, at dawn I was going home! Next morning I woke up and remembered the dead sheep, rolled over to face the lake and as I opened my eyes, there was a loud “baaaaa!” and there was a sheep staring at me through the bivvy door. I nearly jumped through the roof. The dead sheep had gone so I naturally assumed the sheep in the bivvy door must have been a zombie sheep come back from the dead… I didn’t return for 8 months then fell in love with the place, I call it that as it’s a small venue which is ignored by the majority, so I don’t reveal the real name of the place so it’s called zombie sheep lake!1 point -
First river session of the season

So my O/T is as good as over so it was time for the drive south for a session on the river. Went to a club stretch that did me well last year and it was good to be back bank side. It was a lovely day and the weather behaved itself and the only other people me and matey boy seen was a couple in a canoe. All fish came in a 5 hr feeding spell through the night and ended up with 5 barbel with 2 of them going 9+ and a PB chub at 5,7 as you can imagine I was over the moon. The wildlife and solitude really is good for the soul……… but not the horse fly bites have 😫😫🤣🤣 A couple of mat shots as was a bit unfair asking me auld mate to battle the vegetation for every fish. 😬 Its a 3 hr round journey for me so you can imagine I was glad to get home after a long day/night. Cup of tea, cheese and ham toastie, shower and I was whacked 💤💤💤 All in all a great session with a good mate and got a roast on the go listening to Floyd and celebrating the PB with a few Guiness, thanks for reading 😬😎😫1 point -

damn fred is going to get me beat up he upset a staffy owner the other week, his mrs just had a pop at me due to fred not being the jack russell that he is, he towers above their staffy, i don't even let fred off his lead. he is really nice with nice dogs but he loves fighting that's why he stays on lead? not a lot else i can do really they were fine the other week when the staffy ran at him, fred bolted it damn dog went into warp drive through the woods bloke chasing it. he does look like a pitbull or at least what most call a pitbull, he is a fox terrier or jack russell he has no bully in him as a defining feature his climbing skills alone should tell you that, pure terrier.0 points
