  1. Today
  2. Thanks for the car info. , Nick . I currently have a 2003 Honda Civic , but I could do with some extra height as the cars with Zenon lights dazzle me . I used to have a 2003 Honda CRV , so maybe I'll go for a newer version ? . I'm thinking that the fact your Dad wants to engage with people , and day time tv is annoying him is a positive as it sounds like he wants to be stimulated ? . All the best . 😃
  3. Honda and VW are my two preferred manufacturers, and while Skoda is owned by VW, it just doesn't feel as comfortable and is slightly short of power. I've also found it slightly more difficult to balance the clutch and accelerator on starts. There is room for the gear, but not loads more as you would think. I'd happily go back to the new model Golf, although I am not sure on the liftback of the newer Civics. I did see my dad today, he was dressed but in his room as I think he finds daytime television and the lack of conversation in the lounge annoying. He doesn't understand that it's a rehab unit, and they've got various stages of dementia.
  4. Yeah I will just get a 5kg bag of base mix and small amounts of additives to play with before scaling it up. I've got a manual gun for now, but if I was going to start rolling more think I would want a luxury electric caulking gun or something similar. I'm too old for manual labour 😂
  5. Make a 1 egg mix first and test it before too much time and effort and most importantly money goes into it. sounds good but the fish will decide 👍👍
  6. I think It looks alright on paper, if it rolls, smells OK and sleighs any water it goes in, it will be just fine 😂
  7. There's a few proper buffs on here that will be able to give you real feedback. I think it looks ok but I'm no expert!
  8. More like this 👍 Powders 92.5% HNV Super Red mix 5% Blue Cheese Powder 2.5% my own spice mix (garlic, fenugreek, chilli powder and more Milk B powder 10g per kilo Liquids Egg Fermented chilli extract 50ml a kilo Scopex flavour at 5ml per kilo
  9. Thanks for the positive comment I've become obsessed with it this last week 😂 The spice mix was something I thought might be too high tbh I could just start at 2.5% as recommended and add a little more basemix, I could also add more of something else like yeast or an attractor powder but I really want to leave that unless is doesn't work or I feel it needs a tweak. I'm only going to be testing with small batches to start anyway.
  10. Defo a sexy looking mix but I'd personally go lower on the spice. The Kingfisher Red will be largely paprika so the base mix is heavy on spice before you've even started. Maybe go with the AA HNV Superseed if you want to add your own spice mix at higher levels?
  11. Hi guys over the past few weeks I've got into the idea of making my own baits rather than buying shop bought. I've tried to think of a mix that should be soluble, and leak attraction quickly and work all year round, for some reason I've wanted to go spicy and creamy at the same time. I am going to use the AA Baits base mixes for now in order to keep it a little more simple. I am starting with the HNV Super red mix which contains: Large amount of Kingfisher Red (Natural), Red Meggablend, Genuine CLO, Hemp Powder, Mixture of Nut ingredients, Combination of high end Milk & Egg proteins and Betaine to name just a few ingredients in this mix. Powders 90 % HNV Super Red mix 5% Blue Cheese Powder 5% my own spice mix (garlic, fenugreek, chilli powder and more Milk B powder 10g per kilo Liquids Egg Fermented chilli extract 50ml a kilo Scopex flavour at 5ml per kilo Do you think that is good? I am trying to not throw the kitchen sink at it presently,
  12. At last a breathing space for you and your Brother ; your Dad's in safe hands , and much easier to visit regularly . Shame about your car , at least it lasted while you were commuting to Aldburgh . Skoda Yeti , ooh I've been looking to buy one of those , but my Wife is not so keen 😢 . Well tight lines , Nick , and best wishes to your Dad . 😃
  13. Yesterday
  14. Hopefully now things should settle down, my dad has been transferred to a rehabilitation unit in a care home quite local to me. He is still confused and unable to make decisions for himself with his dementia so my brother and I have signed the contract for the free treatment for 2-6weeks. It does mean that Dom and I can do alternative day visits to him, which might mean I can actually get fishing in again on the syndicate. On a negative note I had to scrap my Honda Civic after a failed MOT, but have a hire car even if it is a Skoda Yeti.
  15. Flaked maize itself is sticky when wet and works well in Method Mix, no major need to blitz it up.
  16. Last week
  17. To do our 2 acre lake ,12 yrs ago ,I reckon was 900 quid ,we only had one solar panal at that time . also the pics dont show it ,but the mesh is double ,and in one stretch triple meshed .. battery i showed earlier ,will niw be used as a spare,i have another already on the system in my insulted box ,and on thurs ill buy a brand new one for this winter I did all the work ,and continually maintain it ...
  18. Good question, funnily enough for the last 12 years ,the lake in question is fully otterproofed with two very large solar panals, the battery is trickle charged from the solar panals .. The panals also have a USB charging outlet built in so we use it to charge mobile or power bank, its great cept ,no signal much ... I change the battery ,maybe once a yr ,unless it shorts ,generally caused by the local hounds ,bending the isolators and hitting the mesh .. System works very well,...
  19. Not a believer personally, but good luck. Nature can be a real beach.!! Seeing you're power requirements had me asking a question? Has anyone had any experience with solar power gor fisheries? Thankfully we dont need an electric fence, but do need to run aerators & or a fountain. I would be interested in anyone's thoughts or expertise. Thanks
  20. Local river adjoining the lake ,went into spate yesterday river looks like Bovril .. The search for an easy food source starts now, being extra vigilant, as always ,but even more so as two orphaned otters have been rewilded locally from Shropshire, let go in a 500 acre rewilding estate..The stream where let go ,leads via other ditches and streams to many local pools and lakes .. Battery on charge ,new battery for fence ordered, isolators checked ,no shorting out ...the rest is down to god ...
  21. Just an update on original post, after playing around with the stuff it tended to make method mix very sticky and not as firm as I wanted (oh err). Anyway, probably should have thought of this before, just blitzed up some flaked maize to add to existing mix and it seems to do the job nicely. Off to an 'easy' Kernow water next week to give it a go.
  22. Dynamite still going alright. Plenty of anglers on their books. Think in Europe they have a good following. Their new squid and black pepper seems to be doing alright to those using it locally to me.
  23. yesterday's driving music
  24. Terry's still with Sticky. They released a video with him not too long ago and talks about the in this months Carpology. There's far more than just those I mentioned, but I always got the impression Nash and Dynamite were some of the bigger brands. I guess that UK manufacturers may be struggling selling into the EU now we've left.
  25. Lot more than 2 brands left mate. Just wondering what happened to the Hearn / Sticky bait thing tho?
  26. With the loss of Nash Baits, it seems like 2 major bait brands are exiting the market. What do the likes of Sticky C C Moore etc do? Are they producing in the UK still or have they all setup manufacturing in the EU?
  27. Total fishing tackle and Johnson Ross both have Complex T in stock. There were quite a few others if you Google it. Johnson ross even do a bulk discount offer. https://johnsonrosstackle.co.uk/dynamite-frozen-boilies/18538-dynamite-baits-complex-t-bulk-frozen-boilie-deal-5kg.html
